Jimmy Torano

Jimmy Torano is a well-established American show jumping rider, trainer, and influential figure in the equestrian world whose competitive career spans decades and includes numerous major achievements. He began his Grand Prix career in 1989 at the Winter Equestrian Festival and that same year competed in the FEI World Cup Finals, laying the foundation for a long and successful journey at the top of the sport. Over the years he has accumulated over 100 top placings in Grand Prix and major classes throughout the United States and abroad, with notable victories including winning the $216,000 U.S. Open FEI Grand Prix presented by Rolex in Central Park (a highly competitive CSI 3* night class) and triumphs in other large Grand Prix events such as the Lake Placid Horse Show Grand Prix and the $75,000 Devoucoux Richard M. Feldman Grand Prix at Lake Placid.

In addition to these feature wins, Torano has claimed significant prizes on the U.S. circuit, such as multiple Grand Prix wins on horses like Chewbacca HCC and Kochio Z, victories in speed and classic jumper events at venues like the Great Lakes Equestrian Festival, and titles in open jumper circuits including the Vermont Summer Festival where he topped high-score awards through consistent top placings.

Beyond his personal competitive success, Torano is the founder of JET Show Stable, a respected training and importing operation that has produced numerous top horses and riders. He has also represented the United States on international teams, served on industry committees, and worked as an R-rated judge at major horse shows, contributing broadly to the sport beyond his own rides.

Overall, Torano’s legacy in show jumping is defined by his longevity at the Grand Prix level, his victories in high-profile classes both nationally and internationally, and his ongoing influence as a trainer, mentor, and leader in the equestrian community.
