Horses have always been a part in Harrie’s life, starting in his childhood, and he was 8 when he first starting riding. In his pony years, Harrie managed to win several national titles in dressage and eventing, as well as showjumping, but it was the latter that he would make his career in.
Having obtained his Havo certificate, Harrie moved, aged 18, to ride at the stable of former European Champion Johan Heins. Here he gain a lot of experience in coaching gifted young horses. In 2002 Harrie made the switch to the stables of Axel Verlooy. Harrie and his team have since worked hard to build an international sporting career, and Harrie has been in the top 25 for over 10 years. In 2018 he was the world number 1 for over 8 months, and he has participated in several European, World Championships and Olympic Games.
